An Accomplished Heir to the Legacy of Unbridled’s Song
Value Plus, one of 116 BTW sired by Unbridled’s Song, offers a conduit to one of the most powerful sire lines in North America. As the sire of champions Will Take Charge, Arrogate, Midshipman and Canadian champion Embur’s Song (she a NTR holder at Keeneland for 8.5f (1:41.62) - Doubledogdare S.), Unbridled’s Song left a mighty legacy. With these top performers and many other Grade 1 and Breeders’ Cup winners, including Liam’s Map, Forever Unbridled, Unrivalled Belle, Unbridled Elaine, Graydar, and Thorn Song, Unbridled’s Song has created a definite imprint on the breed.
In the stud many of his sons have made names for themselves, including Rockport Harbor, sire of 26 BTW. Graydar and Mission Impazible have begun promising sire careers; with the latter #1 second crop sire in New York in 2017, and #8 New York general sire. Graydar achieved #15 national second crop sire status in 2017, with 15 winners.
Unbridled – The Wellspring of the Line
Delving deeper into the line, the wellspring, Unbridled (a Kentucky Derby (G1) winner himself and sire of a Derby winner, Grindstone), is the progenitor of many classic winners. He founded the Empire Maker branch responsible for Pioneerof the Nile, sire of American Pharoah and many top three year old classics candidates. Empire Maker’s son Bodemeister (second in the Derby and Preakness himself, and now a Kentucky Derby sire, as his son Always Dreaming captured the 2017 Derby), has emerged as a powerful classics influence. One other son of Unbridled who has achieved a significant legacy at stud is Broken Vow; sire of 50 stakes winners and two champions. With all of that notoriety, Unbridled was not done: He of course founded another top line, that of Unbridled’s Song, who was foaled in Unbridled’s first crop.

See the Value – Value Plus! His Dam Line is Tremendous & Has Produced Top-Level Champions & Stakes Winners for 100 Years!
Roll Over Baby, by Rollin On Over, the dam of our stallion, Value Plus, comes from one of the most celebrated dam lines – she herself is now becoming a foundation mare, as we’ll discover in this article. This family started 100 years ago with Roll Over Baby's 8th dam, Etoile Filante, by Fair Play – she was foaled in 1918; the product of a hot breeding pattern of the day; Fair Play on top and Rock Sand on the bottom as damsire. This same pattern produced the mighty Man O'War.
How the Line Began & The Incredible Class It Has Produced
Etoile Filante foaled Bonne Etoile, the 7th dam of Roll Over Baby; a full sister to the important taproot mare, Fair Star.
Fair Star - Champion 2 yr. old filly of 1926. She earned over $90,000 in her racing career, which was a lot harder to do back then.
Fair Star is second dam of Fairy Chant; Champion 3 yr. old filly 1940 and Champion Older Female 1941.
The greatness goes on with this family, as Fair Star also is 3rd dam of 1954 Champion 3 yr. old filly Parlo, who was Champion Handicap Mare in 1954 and 1955. Parlo was dam of Broodmare of the Year All Beautiful, the dam of HOF(1994), 3 yr. old Champion (1969), Champion Handicap Male(1969), Arts and Letters.
Etoile Filante is also dam of Evening Tide (winner of Test S.), by Bull Dog.
Family Greatness Continued with Daughter of Mega-Powerful Broodmare Sire, Sir Gallahad III
Roll Over Baby's sixth dam, a daughter of Bonne Etoile, was Bongo. Bongo was a daughter of Sir Gallahad III; a great 4-times leading sire and superb broodmare sire; leading the broodmare sire list 12 times. Bongo's half sister, Springbok was also a black type producer.
Moving up to Roll Over Baby's 5th dam, Flight, by Stimulus, placed second in the Schuylerville S., the renowned stakes race for 2 yr. old fillies. So we can see a pattern here in this family - there is a propensity to produce top fillies, often stakes class, and in some cases, two year and three year old champions.
Flight's daughter Jet Flash (Roll Over Baby's 4th dam) by Cosmic Bomb, produced Sun Flash. A hardy mare that raced 68 times, Sun Flash (3rd dam of Roll Over Baby) was a daughter of 1956 US Champion Grass Horse, Career Boy.
Sun Flash foaled Sky Tribute, by High Tribute. As Roll Over Baby's second dam, Sky Tribute won only once herself, but foaled multiple winners, one of which was Roll Over Baby's dam Sweet Praise, a daughter of Honey Jay (leading sire in Ohio).
Roll Over Baby Is Living Up to Her Stellar Lineage
Roll Over Baby has developed into quite a producer herself. She sold at the 2002 Keeneland January sale for $1,000,000. She won over $180,000, is a multiple stakes winner, and is the dam of 12 foals, 9 winners, including Incriminate (full brother to our stallion Value Plus). Incriminate sold at Keeneland September 2005 for $1,500,000. She also foaled Morocco, who sold for a then-world record $2,000,0000 at Barretts Two Year Old Sale; Stakes winners MajorBigTimeSheet; Roll Hennessy Roll; Sing Baby Sing (another full brother to Value Plus); stakes placed Werblin (another full sibling to Value Plus who sold for $800,000 at 2000 Keeneland July).
But that's not all - Roll Over Baby is also dam of black type producer Greer Lynn (by Speightstown), who foaled Mia Mischief (by Into Mischief, a 2017 TDN Rising Star), 2nd in 2017's Spendthrift Juvenile Filly S., and in 2018, 2nd Dixie Belle S. Greer Lynn has also foaled two other black type performers; Lawton and Wonderful Luster.
Value Plus: In Addtion to His Fabulous Sire Line, He’s Heir to a Mighty Family
With a family this jam packed full of stakes winners and champions, it's no wonder Value Plus has sired the winners of over $13,000,000; including 20 black type stakes horses, 30 $100,000 earners and MGSW, G1SP and near millionaire, Long on Value. In addition to his fabulous sire line (son of Unbridled's Song), Value Plus offers breeders an incredibly strong dam line that has proven itself over and over again for nearly 100 years.
